Terms of Service

These are the terms you agree to when you use Tabletop Tomes. We've tried to keep them short, fair, and written in plain English.
Who can use the service
You need to be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you're a parent or guardian and you believe a child has created an account without your permission, contact us and we'll remove it.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for any activity on your account. Let us know immediately if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
Your content
You own what you create. Characters, journal entries, Table posts, comments, custom emoji — it's yours. By posting it in a campaign, you grant us a limited license to store and display it to the other members of that campaign on your behalf. That license ends when you delete the content or your account.
Keep it legal and kind. Don't post:
- Content that violates someone else's rights (copyright, trademark, privacy).
- Harassment, threats, hate speech, or content that targets individuals or groups.
- Malware, phishing links, or attempts to compromise the service or other users.
- Spam or bulk commercial messaging.
We may remove content and suspend accounts that violate these rules.
A hard line on content involving minors. We have zero tolerance for any content that sexualises or endangers a minor. This rule is absolute and permanent — no exceptions and no warnings. We remove the content, terminate the accounts responsible, and, where the law requires it, report to the appropriate authorities.
Adult and sexual content. During early access, sexually explicit content is not permitted on Tabletop Tomes. This is a current-stage policy, not a judgement on mature storytelling — romance, humour, and grown-up themes are a natural part of tabletop roleplay and are welcome. The line is explicit sexual content, and we apply it with common sense: a joke is a joke, and a mildly amorous scene is a mildly amorous scene. Moderating adult content to the standard it deserves takes resources we're focused elsewhere for now, and we may revisit this policy as the service grows. We reserve the right to review content and to remove anything, or suspend any account, that crosses this line.
Subscriptions and the free tier
Tabletop Tomes launches in early access as a paid product with a genuinely generous free tier. A Game Master's subscription unlocks the premium experience for their whole table — players never pay. The free tier lets a real group run a real campaign; a couple of honest limits — one campaign, four players — are simply where a thriving table grows into a subscription.
If you stop paying, you don't lose anything. Campaigns go quiet all the time, and a lapse should never feel like a punishment. If a subscription lapses while you have more than the free tier holds, nothing is deleted — the over-cap campaigns become read-only. Everyone can still read the whole record; you just can't add new content there until you re-subscribe, at which point everything continues exactly where it left off. Some of that record belongs to your players too, and it was never ours to take away.
You can take your content with you. You can download your data any time from your profile — not a hoop to jump through, just because it's yours. We'd rather you stay because you want to than because you're stuck.
Good faith. This generosity is built for people using Tabletop Tomes the way it's meant to be used. We reserve the right to act against genuine abuse — for example, spinning up many accounts or campaigns purely to farm the free tier, or abusing storage — and we'll aim to do so without degrading the experience for everyone playing in good faith.
Game Master authority (Rule 0)
Tabletop RPGs run on Rule 0 — the Game Master is the final authority inside their campaign. Tabletop Tomes honours this. GMs can manage their campaign's settings, content, and custom rules. GMs are responsible for the tone of their campaigns and for moderating member-created content within them.
Our responsibilities
We'll make a reasonable effort to keep the service available, secure, and backed up, but we can't guarantee zero downtime, zero bugs, or zero data loss. The service is provided "as is" — we recommend you don't rely on it as the sole record of campaign history you'd be devastated to lose.
We don't read your campaign content to advertise to you or train AI systems.
Ending the relationship
You can leave any time. Use the "Delete Account" button on your Profile page to permanently remove your account and personal content. No email required, no hoops.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Where feasible we'll try to give you notice and a chance to respond first.
Changes
We may update these terms to reflect changes to the service or legal requirements. If we make material changes we'll give reasonable notice (email, in-app banner, or both) before they take effect.
